Rounding off our reviews of the Monster Cereals, Count Chocula has provided solid leadership for the brand that is made by General Mills. As a sweetly chocolate flavored corn puffed cereal with marshmallows, Count Chocula was introduced in 1971 along with Frankenberry cereal. The cereal is represented by none other than the cartoon character of Count Chocula himself, who is a vampire that craves the chocolaty taste of the cereal as opposed to the craving for blood that his literature based inspiration prefers.

Count Chocula‘s popularity in American culture has ascended along with the rise of interest in vampires in general. The cereal icon has been satirized on shows such as The Simpsons (as Count Fudgula), The Office (Jim lists Count Choculitis as a disease when forced to disclose that information to Dwight), and in Futurama he is now known as Arch Duke Chocula after having received a promotion.

As the flagship cereal, Count Chocula has a much better availability in markets than both Boo Berry and Frankenberry cereals. All three cereals usually receive a make over every year for Halloween, but soon after the availability of all but Count Chocula becomes scarce for the rest of the year.
