Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats

Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats is a cereal bar made by General Mills. It is sold per bar in a large size, no full box of treats is available like other bars. The bar itself is a layer of the original Lucky Charms cereal “glued” together with marshmallow, then the bottom is coated with a confectionary coating that contains yogurt and milk as well as a ton of sugar.

Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats taste just like a bowl of Lucky Charms until you bite into the confectionary coating, then it’s just way too sweet. I found that if I turn the bar upside-down so my tongue touches the cereal side then the confectionary coating never gets a chance to seem too sweet in my mouth and the bar is absolutely delicious.

I couldn’t find any official General Mills information about this bar (thanks for that, sixth largest food company in the WORLD), but I scanned in the Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats wrapper for your nutrition amusement:

Hey, you get sideways because the bar is loooooong. Click either image to see the full size!

I scoured the Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats ingredients list for other common allergens, but it looks like General Mills got the list correct: contains milk and soy ingredients. Also listed is gelatin, without specifying that it is vegetable gelatin, so for those who don’t eat meat please be advised that a big old horse hoof is hanging out in this bar. (Ok, so it’s probably a cow hoof, whatever.)

Deduction for lack of nutrients and a ton of sugar, but Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats rocked my rainbow socks otherwise.

Pretty expensive stuff, but I guess it’s a lot o’ bar. I mean, it went “tunk” when you put that one half down.
And I agree that the creme stuff can’t be good. Never is on bars. Maybe I’ll try your method of handling it some day…
Looks like it’s also not trying to hide too hard that it’s pure candy, which is also fair enough.

    Sidenote: Giggle = Adorable

  2. Most marshmallows are made with gelatin. As a vegetarian, this is a real bummer… especially since there are alternatives out there. :-(

  3. For a sec thre I thought I saw you’re “O” face.. but I think it was the sudden sugar rush. My teeth hurt just thinking of eating one of those (I don’t eat sugar- just drink it -rum)

  4. Have you reviewed Nutri Grain bars on here? The fruit kind? We get those from time to time (actually, my husband just bought a big, fruit variety pack at Sam’s). Gilda eats those all the time.

  5. As a lover of Lucky Charms, I’m going to have to find this and try it. Giving it 4 bowls is a good sign that I will most likely enjoy this incarnation of my favorite breakfast cereal.
