Special Edition: Pop-Tarts World Cafe ~ New York City

This week is a special edition of Cereal Wednesday! Not only do we have special guest, my BFF Bdogg, but we went to Pop-Tarts World Cafe in Manhattan!!!! And then later on back home in Queens I ate the cafe food while showing off the merch I bought. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Pop-Tarts World Cafe seems to have a wrong address floating out there on the internet, so I want to give you the correct one. It is at: 128 West 42nd Street, New York, New York 10036 between 6th Avenue and Broadway in the Times Square area. If you do a street view of the address on Google Maps, here’s what that location looked like before it was Pop-Tarts World:

And here’s what it looks like now:

Much better! :)

Inside the Pop-Tarts World Cafe are the cafe itself, merchandise for your purchase lining the sides of the store, and interactive stations. The interactive stations include:

The Varietizer, which lets you choose from the entire Kellogg’s selection of Pop-Tarts to create your own multi-pack.

The Pop-Tarts World Games area featuring artwork by Burton Morris.

The Customizable Shirt area where you can choose graphics to add to your very own shirt ($25 per shirt).

The dance area where Grape Pop-Tart comes out to dance with anyone who feels like bustin’ a move. The sound track varied from Yes to Culture Club to dance mixes of songs I didn’t use Shazam on but know I loved.

The atmosphere inside is super fun. The vibe in there is kid electric. If you’re not a kid you’ll feel like one while you’re in there. I personally loved the light effects they use to get the crowd pumped up plus the lit Pop-Tarts World image on the floor and the light effects on the cafe tables.

Speaking of the cafe tables, there are plenty of places to sit with your cafe order. The chairs are colorful plastic at the shorty tables, and metal bar stools at the taller tables.

The people on staff are very friendly and helpful. I walked up to the ladies at the Customized T-Shirt section when I came in and made sure that photos and video were permitted and was told “take photos! Put them all over the internet! Tell everyone we’re here!” There are people ready to help you at each station in case you have questions, and they actually do offer to help you!

The menu at the cafe counter is completely Pop-Tarts inspired. Included on the regular menu are the items I reviewed: the Grape Jamwich, the S’mores Stix, the Snackerdoodle, and the Pop-Tarts Sushi. Grape Jamwich and S’mores Stix rocked my world. Snackerdoodle was way too dry. Pop-Tarts Sushi is one of those snacks you try once to say you did it, and then everyone around you can ooh and ahh at how cool you are, but then you never need to try that one again. 😉 Also, off camera Bdogg ate her Flufferbutter and said the taste was there but the Pop-Tart was too dry which detracted from the enjoyment of the product. Perhaps a couple seconds in the microwave would have re-moistened that treat. Daily snack specials are offered, such as the Pop-Tarts Pizza which I didn’t notice until after I already made my purchase. Go visit and try the pizza, let me know how it is!

Pop-Tarts World is not open at traditional breakfast time, they start their day at 11am, but they’re open until 9pm every day of the week so consider them your go-to snack source if you’re hungry or your fun stop in between dinner and a broadway show. They have really cute merchandise that is fun for all ages, including baby clothes if you know any babies, so definitely consider Pop-Tarts World Cafe for your holiday or souvenir or hardcore Pop-Tarts fan shopping! This store is slated to be open through the holiday season and then its fate is unknown, so please tell everyone you know to show up at this store, spend some money, show them your love for Pop-Tarts, and maybe this store will get to stick around with M&M’s World!

Bathroom alert: Yes, there are two gender-specific bathrooms located in the back of the store to the left of the cafe register. One patron at a time per bathroom. And you really should buy something if you go in to relieve yourself. (If you go in for just the bathroom consider me scowling at you.)

  2. Creature SH says:

Oh my god. It’s as tough you walked into an 80s movie.

  4. I feel nauseous just watching this. I love a good Pop-Tart, though. And S’mores.

It seems like a lot of expense for a non-permanent location, doesn’t it?

  5. I wish I was going to be anywhere near Manhattan in the near future to be able to make an impact on this place’s future. Alas…

But this place looks totally dangerous. In a good way, of course.

  6. I hope they are still open when we get there in October. Yum! Yum!

  7. I so want to visit this. What an excellent episode of Cereal Wednesday.

And I loved the Frosted Cherry lip balm. (you already know that’s my favorite flavor)

Love the retro logo clothing they had.

  9. I want a tee shirt!!

  10. Pop-tart world? What’s next? Ding-Dong Domicile? Swiss Cake Roll Roundabouts? WHERE DOES IT END?

We need to eliminate all these unhealthy snacks from the world.

I shall start on this one right here…. mmmmmm. forbidden snack…
    .-= whall´s last blog ..Sorry- it’s reserved =-.

  11. Not sure when I’ll be back to NYC for a visit, but I hope Pop-Tarts World will still be open! Must try that Flufferbutter :)

  12. That’s so awesome! It looks like a playland….Reminds me of the Hershey’s Chocolate factory in Pennsylvania. Pop tarts are currently testing these low calorie pop tarts and they are absolutely delicious.
