Berry Krispies

Kellogg’s Berry Krispies is a rice based cereal that tastes much like its parent cereal, Rice Krispies, with added natural and artificial flavors to produce a berry kick. The box shows a strawberry, blueberry, and blackberry but we tasted only the strawberry. Very tasty cereal that makes for very tasty leftover milk.

Berry Krispies per 1 cup serving contains 120 calories, 0 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, and no cholesterol. It offers 25% recommended daily value of Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, and Folic Acid, and 30% of Iron. Total carbs per 1 cup is 27 grams with 9 grams being from sugar, a bit more than Rice Krispies that only has 4 grams of sugar per serving.

This Snap, Crackle, Pop cereal targets kids… or at least for Sponge Bob lovers, judging from the box we taste tested. But not for free — the Nickelodeon Sponge Bob read-o-meter digital bookmark/timer offered for FREE on the box requires in fine print that you pay with 4 Nickelodeon tokens or $1.99 with 1 token. Mmmmmhmmm. How about we stick one in the box, market it as a literacy tool, and call it a day? (This is why we can’t give this cereal a perfect score, but I do so love NYCWD’s rants.)

Taste: Like plain Rice Krispies with strawberry, and the milk tastes like Strawberry Qwik
Box opening: Not difficult
Bag rippage: None!
Bag slippage: None!
Sog factor: The cereal itself stays “krispie” but the feeling you get lifting the cereal out of the bowl is sludgy like swamp water (yum!)
Allergy alert: None listed, but please check for yourself

I am a purist. I must have my Rice Kirispies plain and ordinary, as the Lord intended.

Great episode. I think that this should be the official format and you need to lose the “guest” title, hasn’t Poppy earned the host position by now? Come on already! :)

Brad- Just the very idea of you being a purist in anything legal is relegated to the land of myths along with Sasquatch and Champ.

Bear Silber- Yeah… the format has always been all over the place… because its not like we really plan it out… just go where the cereal takes us. And I do agree… I think it is long overdue that she be just a “host”.

One cup? Seriously? That’s like a handful of cereal. That’s just wrong. And no fiber? It’s made from rice, how can it have no fiber?

More importantly, I think you all need bigger bowls and matching “Cereal Wednesday” baseball caps.
