Fiber One Caramel Delight

Fiber One Caramel Delight is a General Mills cereal. The whole grain wheat squares have a woven pattern on them which reminds your tongue that this is a healthy cereal. (Nothing says “healthy” like a quilted cereal!) The caramel flavoring is slightly weak, tastes more like corn syrup than caramel, but it’s a pleasant taste nonetheless. What isn’t pleasant is the strange slick sensation that coats the roof of your mouth and your tongue while you’re chewing the cereal, which gives the cereal a slight caster oil aftertaste.

The sample boxes did not show this information, but Fiber One Caramel Delight is rated as one of Bob Greene’s Best Life approved products. Bob is Oprah Winfrey’s personal trainer and fitness guru for her television show. I had no idea that by eating cereal from the Sunday paper I’d inadvertently be promoting Oprah, but I can’t say I’m surprised since she’s everywhere.

Caramel Delight has 180 calories per one cup serving, most of which are from the 41g of carbohydrates hanging out in this cereal. There are 9 grams of fiber per serving, which is 35% of your total daily fiber requirement. It also has 25% of several vitamins and minerals: Iron, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, and Zinc.

Slogan:
“Lightly Sweetened Crunchy Whole Wheat Squares”
Taste: Really sweet, slightly caramel-y, oily aftertaste
Box opening: Easy
Bag rippage: No ripping!
Bag slippage: Lots of slipping…
Allergy alert: Contains wheat and soy ingredients

Special note: This cereal contains chicory root extract which may cause serious side effects for women who are pregnant or nursing. It is advised that you consult a physician before consuming this product.

Poppy, you’re a wonderful Cereal Wednesday host! I’m not sure I’d like that filmy stuff in my mouth — some other cereals do that too (ick). What town is it that your parents live? We lived in Morristown for 9 years. East Tennessee is beautiful (except for airborne allergens). I can’t wait to meet you and Dawg next month at TC!

Hey, Dawg, some of the ads here are really slowing down page loads. Whadupwiddat? ;)

Hi Geeky! Thanks for the hosting compliment. I do enjoy making the segments. :)

Wow, I had no idea you’re going to TC! That’s so exciting! Can’t wait to see you there!

The parents live in Bluff City.

And Dawg said it’s Romlet causing the slowdown.

Poppy, you are so adorable! I just want to hug you!

I also am wondering what that (before) after taste is like.

      So weird!

      Awww, thanks, TMP! :)

I really think it’s the chicory root extract but I have no absolute proof because the internetses are failing me on searches for “what does chicory root extract TASTE like”.
