Honey Bunches of Oats with Cinnamon Clusters

Hi all, it’s Poppy again. Yes, you’re right, NYCWD reviewed Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds in January, 2007. But this is HBoO with Cinnamon. Yummy!!!

This is a Post cereal which is a division of Kraft Foods. The cereal has huge cinnamon-flavored oat clusters in it. I love cinnamon so it’s hard to not want to eat the entire box in one sitting. What I don’t exactly understand is the marketing of three types of flakes: corn, wheat, and sparkle.

In case you’re wondering, sparkle is not a staple food product. In this case it is nothing more than a confusing adjective. I think perhaps it would be a great idea if someone at Post made an executive decision to not make up flake types. But, that’s just my opinion.

The cereal itself is considered a Sensible Solution product, with 9 grams of whole grain and 9 essential vitamins and minerals per serving, as well as a Heart Healthy cereal, with 0 grams of trans fat, 0 grams of saturated fat, and 0 milligrams of cholesterol.

One objection: There are milk and wheat products in the ingredients list but there is no official allergy information listing on the cereal box or on the Kraft Foods site. Perhaps this could be added in the revamp of the box? Yup, thanks.
