120 Seconds: The View

The episode of The View originally aired December 4, 2007. The conversation began when co-host Joy Behar mentioned a documentary she had seen about the Greek philosopher Epicurus and his idea of happiness. This is not the first time Sherri Sheperd has publicly displayed both ignorance and non-acceptance of other ideas and concepts, namely those of the scientific community.

On a show from September, Sherri Sheperd also failed to provide an answer when Whoopi Goldberg asked her of the world was flat. The question came from a conversation where Sheperd stated that she did not believe in the theory of evolution because of what was in the bible.

Sherri Sheperd is a 40 year old comedian/actress who was reportedly raised as a Jehovah’s Witness in Chicago and became a born again Christian when she moved to Los Angeles. She replaced Star Jones as a regular co-host on the show.

For more information you can visit the Sherri Sheperd’s Official Site.

120 Seconds is derived from the Viddler Group 2mins created by Collin Devroe. The group’s focus is to video 2 minutes (which is 120 seconds for those mathematically challenged) where you talk about anything BUT what you normally talk about. In my case, I can talk about anything BUT cereal.

I think Barbara Walters has totally lost it. She’s acts like a babbling idiot on The View whenever I’ve tuned in (or has she always been that way?), so I don’t find it surprising at all that she just sits by as Shari says this outrageous crap. What I do find surprising is that the network is content to sit by as such blatant ignorance is unleashed under their standard.

      Ratings.

That was brilliant! I’ve had to stop watching because of the ignorant things that come out of her mouth so bravo to you :).

Dave- I met Barbara Walters back in college along with Mike Wallace, and she impressed me then… but now I have to wonder if she hasn’t gone a bit senile to continue to have her name associated with such ambient ignorance on that show. The networks just want the bottom line. Its sad really.

Hilly- I had high hopes for it with Whoopi coming onboard… but even she can’t save them from themselves.

Quite honestly, I’ve been very happy living in a country with a secular government. I’ve never seen any religious discussions on TV here, and that makes me one happy camper. All of the most important religious celebrations/observances are observed as public holidays (except for Jewish holidays). I’m dreading repatriation and having to listen to this kind of stupidity, not just on TV, but from presidential candidates (religious beliefs should not even be an issue), or just plain stupid people who “see” Jesus and the Virgin Mary in a pancake!! How is it these people even make it onto the airwaves and in our news media?

Thanks for taking a stand on this, Dawg! I hope someone will listen eventually.
