Energy Saving Holiday Lights
Christmas lights will begin making their annual appearance over this weekend in windows and along streets everywhere. With environmental awareness on the rise, there is also a better way to celebrate the holidays festively that is more environmentally friendly. The answer is LED holiday lights.
LED holiday lights use 1/10th the energy and will last for more than 50,000 hours compared to less than 2000 for standard incandescents. The lights are also safer because they create very little heat–only i degree above ambient temperature. LED holiday lights also are very durable as they are constructed of a nearly indestructible epoxy plastic and contain no fragile filament or glass like incandescents. The lights are an improvement not just for their energy efficient nature, but because of increases in both lumination and durability.
Because of the increased durability and efficiency of LED lights, even the City of New York has switched over to using them in their traffic control lights and on their emergency response vehicles. The fact that the big bad city that glows at night is using them is a sure sign that you should too for that big city feel.
