Cereal Wednesday Modifications

So for those of you that visit the site, you will see that there have been a number of changes over the past month. I’m just going to rehash a few of them now…

- The theme has been changed to a customized by moi’ Neo-Sapien look. The header image rotates, and all of them are screenshots from actual Cereal Wednesday Episodes.

- We now have a podcast version that you can subscribe to in both iTunes and Zune Marketplace. Since the cereal companies have made “on-the-go” versions of their product… well I thought I should do the same. This way, you can watch Cereal Wednesday and eat your cereal anywhere you go!

- This is a Blog Rush approved blog. If you are a blogger then you should definitely check out Blog Rush for your own blog as a way to get syndicated across their vast network.

- Whether or not your a member of MyBlogLog, you should join the MyBlogLog Cereal Wednesday Community. This is another great tool for bloggers and their readers/viewers to interact.

- We continue to need your support and vote at the Blogger’s Choice Awards… and we need it bad.

- There are two plug-ins I’ve added for comments. The first is an improved plug-in called Gravatar2 which will cache your Gravatar and will allow you, if you sign up for an account here @ CerealWednesday.com, to load a gravatar locally. If you don’t have a Gravatar or want to upload one locally then have no fear… you will be represented by Toucan Sam.

- The other plug-in is called CommentLuv. When you leave a comment with your blog URL, the plug-in will attempt to parse your RSS Feed and link to the latest post on your own blog. It seems to work well for WordPress Powered blogs… not so sure about the others.

- The 125X125 buttons have moved from the right to the left. If anyone has a 125X125 button they want to see over there, I will gladly do an exchange. Any additional buttons will be above the WidgetBucks ad but below whoever came before them on a first come, first serve basis. JPEGs or animated GIFs are fine by me, and the ones I have will actually be hosted here and will be rotating. You just need to contact me so we can do the swap. If you have a problem with mine rotating, then I can just send you one of the images. I’m really not that picky.

- There have been two format additions to the site as well. I have added the Marbits segment, for cereal related products and the 120 Second segment for my ranting opinions on anything BUT cereal. While these are not guaranteed to be weekly installments… chances are you will see one of them during the course of the week and they are also available through the podcast subscriptions.

- Finally… and I know this may not go over well with many… I will begin doing sponsored posts here. I know… I know… most people think that ever since their inception I have railed against them. In reality, what I have railed against, is them being done on personal blogs. Since this IS NOT my personal blog, that’s why you’ve been seeing the ads in the sidebars and going to sponsored posts is something that I’ve kind of been grooming this for. I will not be barraging your RSS feeds with them, and anticipate only doing one or two a week. They will be under their own category and clearly marked. I’ve placed a Disclosure Policy, so if there is any question about my integrity, I assure you it is on the up and up.

I’m sure people out there are crying “WHY? WHY?“. Well, to be honest, the average cost of a Cereal Wednesday Episode is $8.00. The cost goes up dramatically when I have to go on location and there is now the extra bandwidth to consider for the podcasts. None of this would truly push me to go this route… but I have specifically earmarked the monies earned to help fund my trip next summer, which IF you do read my personal blog, will see me driving cross country for 3 weeks… visiting big balls of yarn… and eating cereal with as many people as I can find. After doing the collective math, I need to build some sort of cushion and I thought this would be the easiest way.

I can fund the trip through skimping and saving. I’m just not sure if I can fund the bail money I will need when I pull into Battle Creek, Michigan (aka Cereal City) and confront the Cereal Companies on their home turf!

Yeah… I know… end of times are near… end of times…

I like the changes you’ve made. I hope you can make plenty of $$$ for your big trip next year.

I have tried to join MyBlogLog for weeks now, and cannot get to the site. I suspect that the government here is blocking it for some reason.

I noticed last night that I was approved for BlogRush. So, you should at least get credit for my referral.
