Cereal Wednesday Episode XIX: Cocoa Puffs

Without a doubt, if you are a chocolate lover, then you will find Cocoa Puffs as the ultimate way to start your day. While it is puffed corn, the chocolate taste is taken to great extremes. It remains sweet and mostly crunchy throughout the bowl. It does have a high milk tolerance to keep its crunchiness, but over time the effect is that the liquid becomes a deliciously chocolatey addition instead of the usual sweetened mess with this type of cereal.

The Cocoa Puffs iconic figure is a pelican like bird known as Sonny the Cuckoo Bird. Originally, there were two birds who referred to each other as Sonny and Gramps. Gramps would resolve a crisis or situation by giving Sonny a bowl of Cocoa Puffs which made him “cuckoo”.

Once Gramps was dropped from the marketing, Sonny kept his name. One of the other trademarks of Cocoa Puffs marketing was their inclusion into their commercials of the give aways that could be found INSIDE the cereal box.

Sadly, there has been a severe lack of cereal premiums industry wide.

Battle Creek, Michigan has me on their Most Wanted list because while I may be a mild mannered blogger by day... I'm the Cereal Avenger striking fear into the hearts of cheap ass cereal executives who have taken out the toys and joy at night!!!

Yummy Coco Milk afterwards, one of the Bennies of CoCo puffs. Try mixing CoCo puffs with Peanutbutter Captian Crunch.
