Cereal Wednesday Episode IX: Grape Nuts

If there was ever a cereal that should be outlawed, it should be Grape Nuts. From the very start our experience was a bad one. It was a considerably small box of cereal, it weighed the most which is an indication that they cereal was not puffed with air as many are, and it was one of the priciest. The box was hard to open, the bag ripped, and the cereal looked like dirt. Once we got to eating Grape Nuts, it was so damn hard that I nearly cracked a tooth. I have heard that some people pour their Grape Nuts and milk and leave it in the refrigerator overnight to soften it up. Perhaps that works.

The true horror of Grape Nuts came when I heated it up. Now there are a lot of people out there who do this with Grape Nuts, so I figured that perhaps that was really the way the cereal should be eaten. In fact, I don’t understand how they can eat it that way. It tasted like cement. Literally. If you don’t believe me, watch the very end of the video and just listen to the sound of me dropping the bowl onto the table. It was terrible.

In my opinion Grape Nuts is good for one place only. Prison. In fact, I would use it as a deterrent for crime by making it publicly known that if you go to prison you will only be fed Grape Nuts. That’s really how horrible it is.

Grapenuts are good if you want to stop eatting cardboard. A little sugar helps but i agree with you on the taste, however I was forcefed grapenuts by my mother from a very younge age, infact i didnt ever know that there was anything else for breakfast cereal besides grapenuts until i was like 8 or something. So every once in a great long while I eat grapenutz but in very small bowls and the box lasts for months.

I love grapenuts. The trick is to add a little sugar, then the milk, and let it sit for about 5 minutes or so. I grew up with it as well, but I still buy it. In fact, I had a bowl this morning with some cut up banana…
